Carl H. Cox, Exemplary Service to Masonry
In each of our lives, at one time or another, all of us have met that one person, that one man or individual, whose tireless personal energy, passion and expertise truly amazes us. Many of us have called that man Father or Teacher or Coach.
At Christiana Lodge, we know that man as Brother Cox. Every officer seated today in this room, has you, Brother Cox, to thank personally for your unending patience, inspiration and teaching ability. Through the many years of your dedicated service, many men have ascended through these chairs; some have taken a seat in the East and become Master of the Lodge for a time. But it has been through you and your efforts Brother Cox, which these men have become successful. You have taught all of us that the difficult can be done, and the seemingly impossible task of talking in front of a room full of people from pure memory for 15 minutes at a time really is possible for anyone willing to try and would listen to your wise council. There isn’t anything we could give you in return for all of the many hours spent working with us as our teacher and guide. There aren’t words enough for us to express the deep gratitude of every officer seated here today. We have only this award. Because we know that you care about the future, this award that is given in your name today, will also be given in the future, to someone who follows in your footsteps, someone who cares enough to insist upon learning to do it right and who possess the patience of an angel and the diligence of a drill instructor. Christiana Lodge is forever grateful for your dedication and exemplary service. We are thankful that you are our Brother and honored to call you our friend.
